TECHNICAL OBSERVATION LOG // INDEX NO. 408-B
A reflection on my evolution as a developer, from learning Python during the pandemic to exploring web development, Linux, data pipelines, homelabs, and currently AI/ML.
Part 3 of my home-lab setup covers the evolution of its networking topology, from simple port exposure to utilizing an isolated Docker network with Nginx, and finally moving to Tailscale and Traefik for seamless and secure remote access.
Part 2 of my home-lab setup details moving from Portainer to Docker Compose via SSH for better control. I retired unused services, added new ones (like Immich & Paperless-ngx), and implemented Traefik with Tailscale SSL and isolated networks for automated, secure routing.
Building a complex Raspberry Pi 5 home-lab using Docker Compose and custom local DNS, while avoiding common mistakes like bare-metal management, port-based exposure, and relying on boot SD cards.
